Wow! I can’t believe I’m doing this. However, I have now entered the world of blogging. It seems appropriate as I am on the cusp of a new year and had several prods from friends who have like my Facebook posts.
It seems that at this time of year, like others, I become reflective. Christmas/New Year are difficult times, I like this season, but don’t love it. It’s a time to reflect on what has been accomplished or on opportunities missed. It’s a time to make resolutions, however, many years ago I chose not to make resolutions for the upcoming year, but rather I make promises of things I want to experience.
The Holiday season is difficult, I miss the people I’ve lost, struggle with the fact that the season is no longer about the “reason”, but rather what is “given” or “not given” (meaning people are upset when they don’t get what they wanted). I dislike the short dark days, and yet I still see a glimmer.
I see hope in a child who gets a toy, who is truly not expecting it. I well up, upon getting a card that says I make a difference, I love that people from disparate backgrounds can get together and celebrate. I love the small things, trying to avoid the craziness of commercialism and how we have already moved onto the next holiday.
This season and upcoming, I am trying to embrace the actual “reason” and ignore the commercialism and “I want” attitude that seems to be all about. I am traveling on a new adventure. Hopefully, taking this new scary step (the blog) will make me braver and want to embrace lots of new experiences. As it’s really easy for me to take a pass and sit on my sofa in my pajamas, which I suppose is not a great way to embrace life. Thanks to those who have encouraged me to do so. I probably wouldn’t have done this without you.
That was incredible. Proud of you for taking this step. I look forward to reading your blog. I am humbled and honored to be your friend.
Thank you for your support. It’s people like you who have encouraged me to take the next step.
Your blog and I had breakfast together and thoroughly appreciate and enjoy your honesty and openness.
Look forward to reading more blogs.
Thank you! Hoping to continue with the honest and open approach in future postings.
